This majestic site is the dominant landmark of the mauka lands. Known to most of the ‘ohana as Pine Hill because of the Norfolk Pines that adorn the crest, it is said that O.S. Meyer wanted to build his house here until his wife Maggie talked him out it. She believed it was too cold and wet. The area from the pines toward the cliffs is known as Puanea to the old ones. Pu‘u ‘Ōlelo means Speaking Hill. |
